BOILERS 101
Most homes and buildings use one of three heating systems:
a boiler, furnace or heat pump.
A boiler is typically run by natural gas, propane, oil or electricity.
A boiler heats water to provide hot water or steam that is then distributed throughout a home through a series of pipes.
The heat in each room is delivered via hot water baseboards, radiant heating on floors (and sometimes ceilings and walls), and steam radiators typically found in older homes.
